US Open – Live Analysis after IMF lifts global growth forecasts

IMF lifts global growth forecasts, but warns of divergence. The IMF sees global growth at a record 6% this year, following a -3.3% contraction in 2020. A very strong rebound in the US is a key reason, but while growth in the US and indeed the world is expected to be higher than the contraction last year, this isn’t expected to be the case for the Eurozone and indeed the UK. Eurozone growth is expected at 4.4% this year and 3.8% next year after a -6.6% contraction in 2020. The UK economy is expected to expand 5.3% this year and 5.1% in 2022 after a correction of -9.9% last year.
